Gas Belongs In Cars

Let’s be real here: Everybody toots.

But that doesn’t make it any less embarrassing or uncomfortable. Fortunately, science backs up what Lifeway consumers have been telling us for years: Probiotics can help you live a less-gassy life.

A clinical study published in BMC Gastroenterologyfound that an OTC probiotic formula containing a specific strain (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, PTA-6086, trademarked by Ganeden Biotech as GanedenBC30) was significantly more effective in providing relief to subjects suffering from intestinal gas than a placebo.

Intestinal gas results when undigested carbohydrates ferment in the lower bowel. Bacillus coagulans is thought to work by helping the system digest these carbohydrates, such as lactose and fructose.

"Many people may not understand that probiotics are more than something you find just in yogurt," said New York Times best-selling authorDr. Michael Roizen, co-founder of RealAge and Chief Wellness Officer at the Cleveland Clinic. "Taking probiotics is a good habit that can really benefit your digestive system, which is intricately connected to your overall health, yet most Americans are still unfamiliar with them and the good they can do."

So keep drinking your kefir and make the world immediately surrounding you a little bit more enjoyable!
