We recently heard from a mother about her success with weaning her two-year-old off of formula. Well, at first, there was actually zero success. Her little boy fussed and cried when she tried to hand him a sippy cup full of milk, and was forever reaching for the bottle. She was almost at the end of her rope when another mom told her her secret for a smooth formula-to-milk transition: Kefir!
That’s right, kefir can help you as your transition your little one to big boy/big girl moo juice. What this mom did was swirl just a little fruit-flavored kefir into the cup of milk, then stirred well to combine. The kefir flavored the milk, giving it a hint of sweetness (plus a touch of healthy probiotics, but we doubt her toddler has a fine enough palate to detect a hint of healthy bugs). Et voila! Baby boy was drinking his milk. In fact, he’s now such a fan of kefir-flavored milk that he won’t touch the plain stuff. We’ve got a customer for life and the mom has a thriving, healthy two-year-old who’s nabbed extra immune-boosting and belly-soothing protection…and it all started with a drizzle of Lifeway kefir!
